Any fan of The Voice is accustomed to having their favorite NBC show come on twice a week. You expect plenty of singing, some juicy narratives to get you to invest in the singers, and an abundance of banter between the group of judges. However, season 27 has been seeing the shakeup in how the format works. Sure, there's a mix of old (Adam Levine) and new judges (Kelsea Ballerini). However, most glaringly, they're only doing one show a week. How come?

Recently, NBC shared their reasoning as to why we're not seeing two shows a week from The Voice. The reasoning is really quite simple: their Tuesday nights are pretty stacked with shows at the moment. The evening starts with an episode of their sitcom St. Denis Medical with David Alan Grier, following a crew of overworked doctors in the spirit of The Office. Then, they run another thirty minutes for their Night Court revival.
NBC Explains Why They're Currently Only Showing The Voice Once a Week
The last of the primetime slots belong to two different hour long blocks. The first sees a transformation on a classic game show called Deal or No Deal Island. The latter goes to a new show called The Irrational. Obviously, by the time Jimmy Fallon comes on, most people are getting ready for bed. This leaves The Voice without a proper slot to fill in on Tuesdays unless some drastic shifts start happening.
However, all is not lost. This isn't a permanent situation. Eventually, the network plans to bring the show back to their usual Tuesday slot towards the end of the season. However, as it stands, The Voice will currently occupy the Monday night slot alone. Moreover, NBC emphasizes that anyone missing that show can catch it on Peacock like usual.
