Who Looks Fabulous At The Academy Awards - And Who Might Have Made A Fashion Flub

Millions of people watch the Academy Awards every year, and not only to see who goes home with the gold statue. It's one of the world's greatest platforms for sophisticated designer finery. Actresses parade down the red carpet and onto the stage in gowns that are elegant, classic, and usually show-stoppingly lovely. But sometimes, there are fashion faux pas, too. Someone might wear a gown that is just not flattering, maybe a tad too trendy, or simply too embarrassingly revealing. Or just plain outrageous. Viewers are left shaking their heads and asking why.

This year, it looks like most of the stars mainly played it safe and stuck to time-honored silhouettes and traditional garb.

Still, there are a few idiosyncratic outfits. Check these two out!

Cynthia Erivo And Ariana Grande Positively Stole The Show In 'Wickedly' Huge Gowns That Polarized Viewers

Talk about making a super dramatic entrance! These two gifted ladies are "wickedly" clad in gowns that made a big impression, per The Daily Beast. "Both Wicked stars arrived in giant gowns that reference their characters in the film, capping off a long promotional tour of 'method dressing' in ensembles inspired by Glinda and Elphaba."

People either loved the flamboyant looks or were kind of non-plussed by them. Grande is wearing a blush pink Schiaparelli gown with heavy emphasis on the waist.

Someone else was not as impressed. "This ain't it. She doesn't look as emaciated as usual (maybe that was the goal?) but to me if she had taken that top material and extended it all the way down into a full skirt now we woulda been talking!"

"My lamp in the living room when I forget to turn it off before going to bed," wrote another person derisively.

Yet another wrote, "How does she sit?!"

Cynthia Erivo Has A Head-Turning Gown
