A few people were a little concerned when Kelly Clarkson remained absent from her show after a last-minute host change. A week later, people were starting to demand answers, which was pretty rude.

After the first week of unscheduled absence, the producers of The Kelly Clarkson Show released a statement. TMZ let her eager fans know that "she's been dealing with a personal matter that does not directly involve her."
But, that was hardly enough for her nosy watchers. They wanted all the juicy gossip. Of course, there is always someone on the inside willing to talk. A source from The Kelly Clarkson Show told Entertainment Weekly that she has been absent due to a "sudden family emergency."
The nature of the emergency is still unknown. I doubt that Kelly Clarkson nor those close to her will divulge the information until she is good and ready, either. Until then, we can just continue enjoying rotating guest hosts.
Guest Hosts Have No Idea What They're In For
Since her absence from The Kelly Clarkson Show, there have had to be multiple stand-ins for the well-loved host. Currently, the producers are just running with what they have. As each new week rolls around, the latest guests are offered the chance to co-host the show.
So far, they have been pretty obliging. But, it's quite the role to drop on someone at the last minute. As the first guest pointed out, "I did not know that I was doing this until about five minutes ago when I arrived to promote my new movie, 'Last Breath.'" Sumu Lui said, "I'm here now, and look, I'm not one to back down from a challenge."
But, ever the professional, he ran The Kelly Clarkson Show in her absence. That's showbiz I guess.
Until Kelly Clarkson returns, I doubt there will be much news about what is happening in her private life. A family emergency is a pretty broad spectrum, but she obviously feels it requires her undivided attention. On her return, she has no obligation to expose it either. We will just have to await her return the the show.
