Kelly Clarkson Allegedly Looking To Leave Talk Show
Clarkson's talk show was off the air for nearly two weeks in March due to a "personal matter." Since then, the singer turned TV host missed even more episodes, having guest host Kal Penn step in instead. Now, according to multiple sources, the "Since U Been Gone" singer wants to leave her show for good.
Since starting the show in 2019, Clarkson has spent 6 years hosting, and now she's looking for a change of scenery. The singer is reportedly looking to step down because she wants to spend more time with her children. She has a 10-year-old daughter named River Rose and an 8-year-old son named Remy.
"Kelly's number one priority is her children, and they always will be," said an insider to the outlet. They also mentioned how difficult it has been to run the show. "The show is grueling. It's a whole lot of work, and I hear that Kelly would like to spend more time down South."
During her March disappearances, she had a few different hosts, such as Simu Liu, Andy Cohen, and Penn. No one at the time explained the reason for her absence. Clarkson then made a return on March 18 before stepping away once more on April 1.
On this latest episode, they had to make some adjustments in lieu of Clarkson's popular "Kellyoke" segment. In these segments, Clarkson sings a cover of a song, showing off her incredible musical talents. Instead, they simply aired an "encore performance" of an older performance from February.
The Singer Has "Lost Alone" From Hosting For 6 Years
Due to the string of absences and Clarkson already mentioning personal issues, this insider information makes sense. Tensions were heightened during the show's 1,000th-episode special, where Clarkson delivered an emotional monologue.
She also spent time reflecting on past segments and mentioned briefly "I've lost alone, a lot," sparking audience curiosity. Clarkson was referring to being so busy over the last six years, and it seems she's reached a tipping point. After all, her children are still pretty young, and it's no surprise she wants to be around them before they grow up too fast.
Despite Clarkson allegedly wanting to part from her show, her ratings have been pretty stellar. According to Page Six, during the 2024-25 season, The Kelly Clarkson Show has averaged 1.2 million viewers per day. This may sound entirely positive, but sources say that there isn't much profit in the expensive show. "It's a tough job and profit margins are low," said a source.
