Softly, As I Leave You: Life after Elvis is the upcoming memoir by Priscilla Presley. Priscilla and Elvis married in 1967. After a number of affairs and sexual dissatisfaction, they split in 1973. Her new memoir promises to delve into the aftermath of their breakup.

Co-written with Mary Jane Ross, the memoir unveils the latest chapter of her life.

"This book covers eight decades of my life," she told PEOPLE. "Writing it has been a learning experience on many levels. I have reflected deeply both on myself and on those I love. I have always loved and admired Elvis, but the more than four decades of living without him have taught me how rare and extraordinary he was as a human being."

The memoir is set to cover what Priscilla "lost and what she found" as she discovered who she was outside of her marriage to Elvis. The "deeply personal story" includes the "touching and tender dynamic" she shared with Elvis following their divorce, and how she handled life after his death.

Priscilla Presley Also Set To Cover Life After Elvis' Death

Not only does Priscilla Presley speak on her life after their divorce, but also life after Elvis Presley's death.

She speaks on how she reinvented herself after his passing, and how she handled raising her "talented" and "headstrong" daughter, Lisa Marie Presley.

"During her 10 years with Elvis, it became painfully apparent that she had no idea who she was outside Elvis's world," reads a synopsis for the book. "The only way to find herself was to leave that world and seek a new life of her own, because leaving was the only way to survive, for herself and for her daughter."

There is a lot to tackle in her memoir. There are joys, pains, achievements, and grief. Priscilla has lay out her life since the passing of the legendary musician, including the brilliant highs and crushing lows.

Softly, As I Leave You: Life after Elvis is due out September 23.
