Popular Gross-Out Show Is Returning To Air For New Revival

I can almost promise you this is not the show you were thinking of. In fact, I'll go a step further. I know you didn't think this show would return. After nearly 25 years of this show being off the air, it's back. FOX has announced it's bringing the show back after it aired on NBC and MTV. It was hosted by Joe Rogan from 2001-2006. It was even hosted by Ludacris at one point. Have you guessed it yet? That's right. Fear Factor is back.

Fear Factor Is Back!

No, this is not a dream. Thanks to People, we have the full scoop here.

FOX has recently released its upcoming 2025-2026 slate of shows. And one of the shows that is slated to come out is Fear Factor: The Next Chapter. I know, I'm excited too.

The official tag for the reboot reads, "Dropped into an unforgiving, remote location, a group of strangers will live together under one roof, and face mind-blowing stunts, harrowing challenges, and a twisted game of social strategy where trust is fleeting — and fear is a weapon." Yes, I know, as I said before, very exciting.

FOX has yet to weigh in on who will end up hosting the show. They were naturally very complimentary of Joe Rogan, who hosted the original series. (Personally, I don't know why he would host it, but hey, who knows?)

Not The First Reboot?

Of course, this isn't the first time the show has had an attempted reboot.

In 2011, NBC took another swing at it. They still had the property just lying around after all. Unfortunately, their revival only lasted a short nine-episode season.

Then MTV shot their shot with the IP. Ludacris was the host of their version, and it even lasted an entire two seasons. It ran from 2017 to 2018. They even had celebrities come on to compete. For example, there was a Bachelor-themed episode as well as a Jersey Shore-themed episode. Cast members from both those shows competed.

I'm truly interested to see if there is a genuine fan base for this show. After so many years and little success with reboots, will FOX have better luck?
