Adam Levine returned for this season of The Voice, for the first time since Season 16 in 2019. When Levine left the show, Blake Shelton was still on, where he stayed through Season 23. Shelton is returning to The Voice for the upcoming season finale on May 20, although Levine jokes he is not happy about Shelton's appearance.

"Boo!" Levine quips to E! News. "You hear me, Blake Shelton? Right now, you hear me at home? I'm not excited that you're coming back and I don't like you."
Levine and Shelton have joked for years about their disdain for each other. But in reality, the two are actually good friends, bonded by the shared experience of being on The Voice.
"They threw these four people in these four turning chairs," Levine says on Late Night with Seth Meyers. "Back then, we were like, 'This is weird.' We all felt like part of this team. We started dissing each other casually. And then we had a really specific moment where we were like, I was like, 'Is there a too far for you? Is there an over the line for you?' He was like, 'Buddy, you hit me as hard as you want. You will never go too hard.' And he stayed pretty true to that. I got more sensitive than he did."
Adam Levine's Return to 'The Voice'
When asked if Levine would return to coach another season, the Maroon 5 frontman would neither confirm nor deny the possibility.
"Perhaps," he hints. "Maybe...if they ask me."
Levine also opens up about his decision to leave The Voice, especially after being part of the show for so many seasons.
"I just felt like it was time," Levine says. "I had some time to reflect and do my thing and be with my family."
"I was ready to do it," he adds. "Then the stars aligned and here I am."
Levine is joined this season by Kelsea Ballerini, Michael Bublé and John Legend. While he may be open to a return, it won't be for next season. The coaches for Season 28 were just announced, with Reba McEntire returning, along with Niall Horan, Snoop Dogg and Bublé.
