Dolly Parton Weighs In On If She Will Appear In '9 To 5' Remake

The iconic 1980 film 9 to 5 is getting a remake, led by Jennifer Aniston. Although the remake isn't technically green-lit yet, it's getting a lot of support from the industry. Of course, Dolly Parton herself is close to the production of the film, but whether she'll be in the film or not is still unclear.

The legendary country singer sat down with HuffPost recently to discuss the remake and her involvement.

"Jane [Fonda], Lily [Tomlin] and I have been trying for years to try to come up with a '9 to 5: Two' through the years," she began, but "It never happened."

Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, and Lily Tomlin played the three main characters in the original 9 to 5 hit. They're a bit older now than they were during filming, but that doesn't mean they can't appear in the film in any capacity.

Although they won't be lead roles in the remake, Jennifer Aniston has said that she wants all three of the original stars to "be involved in it somehow." Although Dolly isn't sure they'll appear on screen.

"But I love Jennifer. I think it'll be a wonderful thing," she said. "But we have no plans to be in that."

"I do wish her the best, because the script I read, I thought, was really good and a new and different take that really brings the office up to date the way that people live now," she elaborated.

Dolly Parton Thinks She's Too Old For The Big Screen Now

Dolly Parton doesn't think she'll be a good fit for the big screen, however.

"I think a lot of it is that, you know, we're all older now," she admitted. "We're not gonna look that good on the big screen. All of us up there with all those beautiful, young, fresh people ... so I don't know."

Of course, this is a ludicrous thought, and I'm sure many would disagree with her sentiment here.

I do still think there'll be a Stan Lee-esque cameo for at least Dolly Parton, if not all three. That would be so awesome to see.

Dolly does want to be involved in the film, even if she doesn't have a role, however. Her and Aniston have been "friends through the years," so she's very happy to offer her musical support.

"I told her, I said, you're more than welcome to use my song '9 to 5,' and if you need some additional songs, or if you need the '9 to 5' song rewritten or reworked, you know, to do that," she said.
