Once a hero, always a hero. Honestly, there is nothing better to read about as we get slightly farther away from Memorial Day. Just a marine who was trained to defend his country, defending his country. Naturally, he had to tackle the man, too. He was both a savior and an action star. Just in case someone was filming.

Marine Turned Superhero?
First of all, let's get one thing straight: all marines are superheroes. That subheader is just a catchy tagline.
The hero of this story, however, is a man by the name of Sergeant Major Jody Armentrout. The man has served the country for over 20 years. A service record that now apparently includes occasionally saving airline passengers.
The action movie moment happened on All Nippon Airways Flight 114 from Tokyo to Houston. And the moment in question was the prevention of an exit door being opened mid flight.
How To Save A Life
Well, obviously, this isn't one-to-one instruction. According to NBC News, the marine clocked the passenger early. He noticed the man jumping between bathrooms with his backpack. Which, yes, is very weird flight behavior. For those of you who haven't flown before.
Armentrout said on the situation, "He came out of that one and began pacing up and down the aisle, so that just threw my radar on." I hate to admit it, but I'm not sure I'd be that observant. And even then, I may have just kept my head down. But I guess that's what separates me from them.
He then added, "His eyes — you could definitely tell there was something going on." The man then allegedly made a mad dash for the exit door in Armentrout's row. When the Sergeant Major blocked him off, he decided to try his luck at the opposing door.
Armentrout's instincts immediately took over, and he grappled the man to the ground quickly. All the commotion woke up an older gentleman who helped Armentrout keep the man down.
The flight attendants then gave the amazing hero zip-ties and tied him to a chair for the rest of the flight.
The marine gave his thoughts on the matter of flight safety as well, "I want to make sure everybody understands what time we are in in this world nowadays and that they need to be aware of their surroundings all the time."
Stay safe out there, folks. And to Armentrout, we salute you, sir.
