Yeah, the media is gonna media, I guess. It's always fun when major political issues break out to see how different news stations spin the story. We all know that there is no unbiased media, so naturally, every outlet covers a story differently. Take the LA Riots that are currently happening right now. Currently, there are protestors burning cars and causing general mayhem. Pretty obviously not a great way to protest. However, an ABC 7 reporter saw things a little differently.
ABC Reporter Under Fire For Comments About LA Riots
The newscaster in question was a man by the name of Marc Brown, as can be seen in the post above. And he, although I'm sure it involved his team of writers, decided to give the protests an interesting spin.
And look, I'm not gonna sit here and pretend I'd do a better job. I'm sure bieng a newscaster in today's day and age sucks. It's all about pandering to audiences, and not about telling people facts. So, I get it. I really do. But honestly, we can't be calling this "people having fun with cars".
The protests are shutting down lanes of traffic, and there's definitely already potential for people to get hurt. So, not exactly my idea of "fun". But hey, what do I know? I'm certainly not a news expert.
These comments come after Donald Trump signed an order to send 2,000 National Guard members to LA. The order's specific language was for the Guard to protect federal buildings and restore order.
While the move wasn't super backed by California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, it hasn't swayed the President. In fact, Trump warned that he has marines ready to be sent if things don't calm down swiftly.
So, one might say a tense situation is brewing in LA. Again, certainly not my idea of "fun".
Backlash From The Masses?
Yeah, if you look at the comments underneath the above post, they're nasty. Let's just say I hope Marc and his family don't peruse X too frequently.
Some of the funnier ones are:
"I'm literally slackjawed"
"Who among us hasn't gone out to watch cars burn when we're bored and can't think of anything else to do?"
"I bet they brought marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate to make s'mores while having fun burning cars."
So yeah, unsurprisingly, just some general shock at how ABC 7 decided to portray the events.
