When people like Kelly Clarkson attain fame and fortune, it's hard to imagine a time when they were living a hardscrabble life. But Clarkson recently revealed that she and her family were struggling to make ends meet when she was a child. That fact aside, the daytime talk show host and first American Idol winner discussed what her mom used to do to create mock vacation pics. It's sweet and clever. And Clarkson endeared herself to her fans by being so upfront about it.

Kelly Clarkson Mother Had A Cute Solution To Having No Vacation Pics
A few days ago on her show, Clarkson responded to an audience member's question about "her favorite summer vacation as a kid," per y!entertainment via People. Her explanation was straightforward.
"Oh, we were poor. We didn't do vacations. We, you know, went and played in the backyard."
But no vacations did not mean no vacay images. Trust a mom's loving ingenuity. Clarkson added, "So well, one thing that is funny, though, is our mother would take my school picture and she would cut it out and then she would post me in like the desert. She would paste me, she would glue me onto like a desert scene or in the mountains or the Swiss Alps. Oh, she's on a grassy knoll."
The star continued, "Like, you know, she would just post me somewhere as if, I guess, we had gone [there]. You're welcome, Mom. And it was like an artsy thing I think she did, too. But also, yeah, we don't have vacation pics."
She Wasn't Bashful About Admitting That They Just Didn't Have The Resources To Take Trips
"I don't think everybody can afford to vacation," Clarkson observed. Then she addressed a comment to the woman who asked her the question in the first place. "How do you afford a vacation with two sets of twins?"
She quipped, "I'm going to be posting pictures of them at the Swiss Alps."
Clarkson genially said, "You should take the advice. You can go anywhere really. You just post yourself there, you glue yourself there."
Great idea for creating getaway pics without getting away for real! Thanks, Kelly Clarkson!
