The "Before He Cheats" singer won season four of American Idol some twenty years ago. Her being inducted as a judge two decades later has been a big moment for the show. Underwood's onboarding didn't go without a hitch, however. The country star was being boycotted and attacked for singing at Donald Trump's inauguration.
So it's been quite an intense time for the singer. Being an American Idol judge has been an incredibly rewarding experience, but it hasn't come without its challenges.
A "solid source" told Life&Style that being a judge has been "very tough."
"She's on the road a lot. She's missing her kids and Mike," the source elaborated. "They FaceTime day and night and she flies home every spare moment she gets, but it's not the same as just being there. At the end of the shoot day, she's always totally drained from the highs and lows and just goes back to her hotel room to crash."
"Those nights can be very hard because she just wants to be in Mike's arms or reading bedtime stories to her kids and instead all she can do is see them through a phone screen."
Despite this, Carrie Underwood is "nowhere near throwing in the towel" on her American Idol journey.
Carrie Underwood To Continue Being 'American Idol' Judge
Carrie Underwood simply has too great of a time to give up being a judge.
"She loves doing the show. Not only is it a huge opportunity and a massive paycheck, it's also really fun," the insider stated. "She loves working with the guys, and the whole crew has been so great. Her biggest joy is helping the contestants through a really bewildering experience."
Being a judge is "really beautiful because she's able to connect with so many people and know exactly what they're going through."
There you have it. If you enjoyed Carrie Underwood on American Idol, then you'll be pleased to know she shows no signs of stopping.
