Gavin Adcock says it's a miracle he survived childhood. The 26-year-old grew up in Athens, Georgia, where he worked in less-than-desirable circumstances, even as a child.

"I grew up on a cattle farm," Adcock reveals. "My daddy working in stockyards and stuff. He would go. My grandpa was an auctioneer, and my dad would be buying cattle in there. I'd sneak in the back and work with the wild cattle. And it's a miracle I didn't have some bad stuff happen to me back there."
According to Adcock's website, he dreamed of riding bulls in the PBR. Adcock could have pursued those plans, if not for a knee injury. Adcock was playing football for Georgia Southern University, when he suffered a knee injury. While recovering, Adcock wrote his first song, and a new career was born.
Adcock's first album, Bornfire Blackout, was released independently in 2023. He released Actin' Up Again in 2024, in partnership with Warner Nashville. His sophomore record for the label, Own Worst Enemy, will be out on August 15.
Gavin Adcock's Strong Feelings About Country Music
Adcock might still be a rising star, but he's already made headlines, and not just for his music. Adcock famously spoke out against Beyoncé, and her Grammy-winning Cowboy Carter album.
"That s**t ain't country music, and it ain't never been country music, and it ain't never gonna be country music," Adcock said during a live show. He later clarified his comments on social media.
"When I was a little kid, my mama was blasting some Beyoncé in the car. I've heard a ton of Beyoncé songs and I actually remember her Super Bowl Halftime Show being pretty kick-ass back in the day, but I really don't believe her album should be labeled as country music," he says in the post.
"It doesn't sound country," he continues. "It doesn't feel country, and I just don't think that people that have dedicated their whole lives to this genre and this lifestyle should have to compete or watch that album just stay at the top just because she's Beyoncé."
