Priscilla Presley Says She Protectively Watched Over Elvis: "Everyone in the World Was after Him"

Priscilla Presley, the ex wife of the King of Rock and Roll, is dishing about life with Elvis. Per People, she recently said that being the spouse of someone so famous and admired was not so easy. Elvis's bevy of female fans could be a handful to deal with. As she put it per the outlet, "My God, I had to learn everything. Women gravitated to him, so I would be nervous when he had to go places alone. I would even go with him to get his teeth cleaned! I always had an eye on him because everyone in the world was after him."

Priscilla also claims the King had occasional angry eruptions. "If he saw somebody he didn't like on the TV, he'd get his gun out and blow it up. Then he would tell his daddy to go get another TV."

She First Swooned for Elvis When She Was Just a Kid

Per the outlet, "Priscilla, now 76, famously — and still shockingly — first fell for the singer when she was just 14." While residing in West Germany with her parents, Priscilla got an invite to a get-together that Elvis was hosting at his rented digs. He was stationed abroad during his service in the Army.

She was instantly smitten. Priscilla said she "had to keep him. I wanted to go places with him. I would cry if I couldn't be around him." Elvis was in his 20s at the time and was a star already. Hits like "Don't Be Cruel" and Hound Dog" made him a household name.

Elvis and Priscilla's Relationship Blossomed

Although she was still very young, Priscilla's folks allowed her to relocate to Memphis in 1963. Elvis was living there with his family. There was one hitch - she was required to "live with his father and stepmother in their home a mile away from his Graceland mansion."

They tied the knot in Las Vegas in 1967. The groom was 32, the bride 21.

She Was Madly in Love with Him

It sounds like Priscilla was an adoring wife to Elvis. "I was always ready to greet him at the door and pamper him. I loved taking care of Elvis very much. I loved tending to him. I loved feeding him. We would baby talk, because you have to have your own language when you have that many people around. It was a good life. It was different, but it was ours."

The couple had a daughter, Lisa Marie, in 1968. She died in 2023. The Presleys divorced in 1973.

Priscilla reflects on the good days with Elvis with lasting affection. "I truly cherish the great times. As you grow up, there are always fears and insecurities. But as you get older you understand it all."
