Zac Brown’s Secret to a Number One Song? "Sucking Every D*** In F****** Radio Land"

After hearing Zac Brown talk about how he's achieved his success, it's no wonder he decided to enter a "new chapter" in his career.

The "Country Fried" singer shared what the secret sauce is for reaching number one on the country charts during the Oct. 8 episode of Bert Kreischer's Bertcast. If there's one thing we learned about Brown, he's just as hilarious as The Machine comedian.

What Is This "New Chapter" for Zac Brown?

Back in July, Brown announced the release of Love & Fear, scheduled for Dec. 5. The album will include his duet with Dolly Parton, titled "Butterfly." It also features "Let It Run," his collaboration with Snoop Dogg. Brown will also be playing a residency at Sphere in Las Vegas beginning on the album's release date.

Although December shows are sold out, tickets remain for performances on Jan. 9-10 and Jan. 16-17, 2026.

What Did Brown Say to Kreischer?

As you may know, the Zac Brown Band has had a record number of singles reach the top of Billboard's Hot Country Songs or Country Airplay chart. But in the last few years, Brown has redefined what success means to him, and he shared that with Kreischer using a very colorful metaphor.

"Before, it was like, 'Okay, I want to figure out how to have number one songs on the radio. I want to figure out how to do this, hire a big radio team, hire seven executives, have them working on radio full time,'" Brown said.

He then added, "You don't get a number one song by having a good song. You get a number one song by sucking every d*** in f****** radio land. The team digs them all up and helps me suck up 200 in a day. Let's just get it all over with. I put my Carmex on and I go to sucking."

After that revealing metaphor, Brown explained how his priorities shifted.

"You get as much done in a day as you can, so then you can (focus elsewhere)," he explained. "Then, after six or seven years of that, we were so blessed and had 16 or 17 number one songs. But at some point, you wake up and you're like, 'I don't want to suck d*** anymore.' So you take a break for four or five years and you see what you can gain."

Brown Might Be out of Carmex, but He Has Plenty on His Mind

Zac Brown clearly has a gift for making podcast hosts laugh. For example, on a recent episode of Bussin' with the Boyshe shared his real thoughts on his "Butterfly" partner, Parton.

"Just an incredible woman... and she's hot," he said. "She's about to be 80 years old, and she's hot."

See what we mean? Just imagine what Brown would say while smoking a joint on the Joe Rogan Experience. We could probably write a book with the crazy stuff he'd say.
