Sometimes experienced country music stars take younger newcomers under their wing, teaching them the ropes of the biz. Sounds like that is what Kenny Chesney did for Megan Moroney. According to Holler via the Therapuss podcast with Jake Shane, Moroney is profoundly grateful to Chesney for getting her through a tough time. The two got to know each other on Chesney's Sun Goes Down tour and formed a strong bond of friendship and professional respect.

Moroney Was Bummed Out Because of an Article About Her
Getting unflattering or untrue press goes with the territory, unfortunately. But it can still be extremely hurtful. Moroney said to Jake Shane, "So I got to open for him last year, on a stadium tour. And he's become such a close friend and mentor. And there was a time where I was really crashing out over this article that got posted...a lot of it wasn't true, Kenny came to my house because he was like, 'You need to chill out. You're building something so special, the connection you have with your fans, and you are letting these people eat your lunch.'" His wise counsel evidently helped her immensely.
Chesney Walked Her Through the Crisis
He was generous with his patience and support of Moroney. She shared, "So, he just came over and hyped me up. My parents were in town. And so, my parents thanked him a million times for coming and doing that because he just talked some sense into me when I was crashing out"
She continued, "But it's so nice to have a friend like Kenny. He's been through it all, he knows what it's like to have people talk bad about him and even anything, really, because he's been doing it for so long. So, he always has the best advice. And he talked some sense into me. None of that matters. What matters is my songwriting, my fans, and my path."
They truly appreciate each other. Moroney co-wrote a song, "You Had To Be There," for Chesney. For her birthday on October 9, he sweetly gifted her with a magnificent guitar autographed by country music legend Dolly Parton.
