The feud between Taylor Swift and President Donald Trump has taken an unexpected turn.
Videos by Wide Open Country
The rivalry began when the singer endorsed Joe Biden for President in 2020. When Swift endorsed Kamala Harris last year, Trump wrote on Truth Social, "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!"
Then, earlier this year, when the president invited the Philadelphia Eagles to the White House to celebrate the team's Super Bowl win, he had some things to say about the "Cruel Summer" singer.
"It was an incredible game," he said. "A little surprising, but right from the beginning in the first quarter of the big game - which I was there. I watched in person. I was there along with Taylor Swift. How did that work out? How did that one work out?"
He then went back on Truth Social to make this claim:
"Has anyone noticed that, since I said "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT," she's no longer "HOT?"" Trump posts.
However, Trump's stance on the singer seemed to soften after Swift announced her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
"I wish them a lot of luck," he told reporters.
He continued, "I think he's a great player. I think he's a great guy and I think that she's a terrific person, so I wish them a lot of luck."
But when we heard a Swift song on a clip posted by The White House, we were surprised, to say the least.
What Taylor Swift Song Was Used?
The 22-second montage, captioned with "OUR VIBES," is set to "The Fate of Ophelia" with patriotic images flashing as the song asks listeners to "keep it one hundred."
It then cuts to shots of Trump and Vice President JD Vance when Swift sings the line "pledge allegiance to your hands, your team, your vibes." The post even shows Trump's mug-shot-esque photo during the lyric "don't care where the hell you been."
People Had a Lot To Say About the Clip
One user wrote, "Ohhh Taylor is going to hate you're using her song."
Another chimed, "i would absolutely LOVE if Tay found a way to sue them for this."
"As a Taylor swift fan and a Donny T fan, I approve this message," wrote another user.
Someone else stated the obvious, "Taylor swift would not approve."
It's uncertain if the White House used "The Fate of Ophelia" as a way to anger Swift and her fans or to capitalize on the song's current popularity. But whatever its intent, the clip certainly sparked quite the conversation.
