Does Taylor Sheridan Make Ali Larter's 'Landman' Character Too Risque? She Pushed Back: "Taylor Is a Provocateur"

Taylor Sheridan, the creative wizard behind Yellowstone and the ecosystem of its spinoffs, sequels, and prequels, is a storytelling visionary. He has single-handedly rewritten the way we think about the modern American West. His lane is his and his alone. But some have carped about Sheridan, 55. They claim he makes the character of Angela Norris on the dramatic TV series Landman too blatantly, maybe stereotypically, sexy. The actress who plays her, Ali Larter, 49, says absolutely not.

Larter Went To Bat for Sheridan

With season 2 of Landman set to begin on November 16, Larter firmly denied that Sheridan is sexist. She interprets him very differently. Per People, Larter said, "Taylor is a provocateur. He loves to write characters that make people respond, that initiate a reaction, a feeling. And I think that what's incredible about our show, and a lot of the shows that Taylor makes, is that they're all wildly original and authentic to themselves."

In Larter's opinion, Angela just "beats to her ow tune."

She Unequivocally Advocated for Him

Larter went on to say this about Sheridan. Per the outlet, she said, "It's incredible how Taylor made oil fascinating, and the landscape. You would never know that — this is why he's such a genius — you would never know on paper that this show would be so riveting or so many people would love it, different generations of people who live in different places. That they find a connection to it, I think, is super fascinating."

Larter Analyzed Angela

The actress clearly understands what makes Angela tick."You're watching this woman leave a life behind of luxury, leave a life of comfort behind, because she's gotten to the age and to the point in her life where she wants to be with the person she loves. And she wants to laugh. Being able to kind of create that arc and weave that into the first season was really interesting and fun to be able to do."

Larter also identifies with Angela's intense maternal instincts. The actress has two children of her own with husband Hayes MacArthur - Vivienne and Teddy. In addition, Larter and Angela both have notable zeal for all things culinary. "Taylor started really pushing that after I was cast for the role. I joked with him that during COVID, I was making Michelin-star Bento boxes for [my kids'] lunch."
