Morgan Wallen predictably skipped the CMA awards on Wednesday. The "Last Night" singer was nominated for three awards, including Entertainer of the Year, but still chose to spend his night elsewhere. Predicting whether he would be in attendance was likely somewhat of a drinking game by the time the event began.

During a recent interview on "Taste of Country Nights," Wallen's best friend, Ernest, shared insight into the superstar's perspective on the CMA Awards.
"He don't give a s--t," Ernest said. "Since when is Morgan giving a s--t? Who's makin' more money doing this than Morgan Wallen, he doesn't give a f--k about this award. I wouldn't either if I was Morgan Wallen."
Wallen won the Entertainer of the Year award in 2024. However, his checkered history with the show, and Award evenings in general means he's unlikely to turn up, regardless of what he's been nominated for, or is expected to win.
In fairness, Wallen's global success is enough of an award. After all, he can sell out shows wherever he goes and is one of the biggest country stars of our generation. A round of applause when holding an award isn't going to top or change that.
Morgan Wallen Was Previously Banned From the CMA Awards
Wallen was previously banned from the 2021 CMA Awards following a scandal involving his use of a racial slur outside of his Nashville home.
"I'm embarrassed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back," Wallen said in a statement given to ET at the time. "There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better."
Despite the scandal, Wallen has turned his career around. Now, rather than being unwelcome at the CMA Awards, his presence is an international talking point. However, all the chatter surrounding his potential attendance is unlikely to sway him in the future. In fact, it will likely be bigger news when Wallen does attend one of those events. Until then, we should probably assume that he's not going to show up.
