The incident began when Burns left Johnny Rotten's house and went to score some drugs. He crashed his car and decided to find a liquor store on foot. Mistakenly, he'd left his phone in his car, ultimately resulting in it getting stolen. Therefore, Burns found himself stranded.

"So, I started shooting the drugs,"

Burns wrote on Facebook. "Instead of putting water in the spoon, I started using whiskey. I was shooting Jim Beam Whiskey and c-----e. I'm out of my head man. I decided 'why don't you just kill yourself Billy'?"

Unfortunately for Burns, this is where things took a dark turn, as he began to self-harm while under the influence.

"I stabbed myself three times," he continued. "I got a pocket knife that has about a 4 ½ inch blade on it, I thought I stabbed myself 3 times but there is actually about 4 or 5, I didn't remember the other 2." He also added, "I know I bled over a pint on one of the cuts."

Billy Don Burns Was Rushed to the Hospital

Fortunately for Burns, he was quickly rushed to a medical facility.

"They rushed me to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, CA...I'm hoping I get out of here in the next few days...Everyone, pray for me BDB."

Burns has battled drug and alcohol addiction for years, with some incidents even seeing him convicted. Hopefully, the latest incident has helped set him back on the road to recovery. Burns has overcome countless hurdles throughout his life, so getting back on the wagon will just be the latest challenge that he faces.

With a career spanning over 50 years and an immeasurable impact on the industry and country genre, nobody wants to see Burns get hurt or lose his life due to addiction. Hopefully, he can get the help he needs. The world has already lost too many musical greats in recent years. Burns is lucky he wasn't the latest one.
