Melania Trump Blasts Jimmy Kimmel for "Hateful and Violent Rhetoric" About Her and the President

First Lady Melania Trump is usually reserved and private. However, she came out swinging against late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel. He reportedly made some pretty nasty remarks about her and President Donald Trump. What prompted her online outburst was probably, at least in part, the shocking incident at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on April 25.

At that annual event in Washington, D.C., Cole Allen, 31, allegedly showed up toting firearms and knives and began shooting in the hotel where the event was proceeding. Chaos and terror ensued. Some 2,600 VIP and journalist guests, including the President and First Lady, were seated in the ballroom. Fortunately, before he could enter that crowded area, Allen was subdued and taken into custody. Melania Trump evidently believes that Kimmel's comments, made just two days before that disrupted gala, contributed to the general atmosphere of national unrest, tension, and anger toward the President.

The First Lady Is Bristling About Kimmel's Observations

On April 27, she wrote this blunt statement on X. "Kimmel's hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn't comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America. People like Kimmel shouldn't have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate."

She heatedly continued, " A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him. Enough is enough.  It is time for ABC to take a stand.  How many times will ABC's leadership enable Kimmel's atrocious behavior at the expense of our community."

The First Lady then exhorted Jimmy Kimmel's network, ABC, to intervene. "People like Kimmel shouldn't have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate. A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him. Enough is enough.  It is time for ABC to take a stand.  How many times will ABC's leadership enable Kimmel's atrocious behavior at the expense of our community."

What Jimmy Kimmel Allegedly Said

Kimmel did not hold back on his show that aired on April 23. He made several wisecracks about the First Couple on what he dubbed "Our Alternative White House Correspondents' Dinner." (That sounds like a riff on the alternative Super Bowl show put on by Turning Point USA for those who did not choose to watch Bad Bunny perform during the big game.)

The comedian reportedly referred to Melania Trump as "an expectant widow." He also pointedly joked about the Trumps' supposedly distant relationship. "Oh, by the way, Melania, this is Donald. Donald, this is Melania."

Additionally, Kimmel poked fun at the First Lady's 56th birthday, which was on Sunday. "She's planning to celebrate at home the same way she always does, looking out a window and whispering, 'What have I done?'"
