A University of Tennessee Professor Canceled Class To 'Process' Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's Engagement

A University of Tennessee professor is going viral for the oddest reason. Videos have been posted of him canceling his scheduled class, due to Taylor Swift getting engaged to Travis Kelce. Even more surprising, the class was scheduled to take a midterm.

"Hello class," he says in the clip. "As you know, we are supposed to have a biochem midterm today. But, Taylor and Travis just got engaged. Due to this information, I can't focus. You all can't focus. Class is canceled, get out of here. We gotta go. We need time to process this information."

Swift and Kelce shared their engagement on social media. The two captured the montage of photos by saying, "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."

All About Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's Relationship

Swift and Kelce went public with their relationship in 2023. Kelce developed a crush on Swift first, going so far as to create a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it. Unfortunately, he didn't get to meet her that night.

"This dude didn't get a meet and greet, and he's making it everyone's problem. That's what I thought at first," Swift says on Kelce's New Heights podcast, which he shares with his brother, Jason (via People). "You realize he didn't even reach out to [my] management. He thought that because he knows the elevator lady, that he could talk to her about just getting down to my dressing room."

Fortunately, the two did ultimately meet, and a romance quickly blossomed. By the time Swift made headlines for showing up at his football game, they were already a couple.

"So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I'm grateful for, because we got to get to know each other," Swift says. "I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date."

Kelce is already a bit of a celebrity, thanks to his football career. But even he admits he wasn't ready for the level of fame Swift has to deal with on a daily basis.

"Just the paparazzi," Kelce says on the Bussin' With the Boys podcast. "That's probably the only thing that I didn't really grasp until you're in it. That's probably the craziest part, though. Like I'm just playing golf and all of a sudden in the trees there's a guy with a camera."
