Ulvaeus is 79, whereas Sas is 52. They met in 2021 while working on ABBA's final studio project, "Voyage." They began dating the following year and got married in September 2024.
The iconic musician spoke to The Times about their relationship and how he overcame the 28 years between him and his partner.
He explains that they shared "love at first sight," although couldn't help but be perturbed over the age gap. "Immediately, I had severe problems with myself and the age difference," he explained. Large age gaps are a social stigma, thanks to many pervy men, and he had to reflect on his intentions.
"When a man or a woman meets someone much younger and falls in love they think, 'Am I doing the right thing?" he questioned.
Before long, though, he couldn't suppress his feelings any longer. "In the end I just gave up. I decided, 'It's up to her — if she wants to live with someone older and we love each other...'" he thought.
"Age doesn't come between us now — we rarely even talk about it." How romantic.
Björn Ulvaeus Describes What "Love At First Sight" Means To Him
Björn Ulvaeus described the feeling of "love at first sight" as "spectacular" and "fantastic." Those are some pretty bold adjectives.
"You have to be very open, with your antennas out," he continued, providing more bold imagery. "You have to be adventurous and ready to take a chance." I suppose he took a chance on her after all.
Now not everyone has antennas, so don't feel put off if you experienced 'love at first sight' any differently, or if it was more along the lines of 'love at a thousandth sight.' Love is a mysterious thing that isn't always as magical and fairytale as Björn Ulvaeus experienced.
No disparagement, I just wanted to get real for a moment.
Christina Sas is Ulvaeus' third wife, and it looks like third time's the charm.
