Abbey Cone Makes Grand Splash With Debut Album 'Greener' But She’s Been Here For Years

Abbey Cone has released Greener, an album that tells the story of a relationship that burned brightly but eventually broke down. From start to finish, she tells the impactful tale of heartbreak, to heartache, to healing.

Starting with "If You Were A Song," Abbey Cone sets us up for tears as she sings about the joys of falling in love. To be hit with "Video Games" right after is as sobering as it is crushing. From then on, we join Abbey Cone as she takes us through the many emotions that come with getting your heart broken and eventually coming out through the other side.

"Video Games" and "worst case scenario (worktape)" are my personal favorite songs of the album. They're just so present. I feel like I'm in the room with her as she tussles with these raw thoughts. This shouldn't be surprising, considering "Video Games" made it to our list of the best new releases the week it dropped.

(In retrospect, that song has stuck with me more than others on that list. If I were to write that list again, I'd rank it a little higher for sure.)

You can listen to Greener now. It's available on streaming platforms now.

This May Be Her First Album, But She's Been Around The Block

Greener may be Abbey Cone's debut album, but she's no amateur in the music industry.

She's played at the C2C Festival, Stagecoach, and CMA Fest, and she's opened for LeAnn Rimes at the Ryman. Not to mention, Abbey Cone was invited by Vince Gill to perform at the Grand Ole Opry. So yeah, she's been here for a while.

But now she's ready to carve her own path in the industry, and Greener is a powerful start. Although it hasn't been easy. When speaking with WOC, Abbey Cone said that the past five years of her life were "defined by two breakups."

Not only had she broken up with her boyfriend of six years, but she also parted with her first label. Although she's struggled these past some years, she now has more "control, creatively and musically."

She has found that the grass is Greener on the other side, and her album poetically recalls this story of grief and loss.

I'm so excited to see how people respond to the album. I think it's clever, beautiful, and incredibly raw.
