In a recent TikTok post, singer Ashley Cooke took to social media to give insight into some of her health struggles over the past year. Brugada syndrome is a genetic disorder that is typically characterized by having an abnormal heart rhythm, with accompanying symptoms like dizziness, fainting, and/or sudden cardiac arrest, often during sleep. In her TikTok, Cooke shared that her mom was back in the hospital with chest pain, which was concerning to her since her mom had just had a heart attack about four months prior.

Amidst the diagnoses and personal struggles, Cooke has been nominated for ACM New Female Artist of the Year twice in 2024 and 2025, as well as Best New Country Artist at the 2025 iHeartRadio Awards. Not only that, but she also took home the CMT Music Award for Breakthrough Female Video of the Year back in 2024.

Cooke's Difficult Family History

Cooke got real on social media about her year thus far, saying that "Mom had a heart attack, dad had cancer for the fifth time, both my grandmas passed away, went through a breakup, sister had a thyroid issue, I got diagnosed with a heart condition." She titled the video "honesty hour" in the captions, and the comments were overflowing with support for the singer's family.

She said of her heart condition that it "doesn't really impact anything about my daily life" in a recent interview with Taste of Country. "It's just one of those things where all of a sudden one day, this certain thing in your heart can just stop, and you're just gone."

The singer admitted that "A lot of my family members have passed away unexpectedly, very healthy and very young, from it...So it's very scary."

As of now, Cooke has shared that her mom's hospital visit was "just a scare," but expressed that she's being proactive about learning all she can about Brugada Syndrome, whilst supporting her family during challenging times.
