You can expect the backlash against Bad Bunny being the headliner for the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show to intensify over the next couple of weeks. There have been plenty of headlines generated over the selection of the Puerto Rican reggaeton star since October.

In addition, someone named Kar Shell launched a petition to replace Bad Bunny with George Strait. It now boasts over 120,000 signatures.
"The Super Bowl halftime show should unite our country, honor American culture, and remain family-friendly, not be turned into a political stunt," the petition reads. "Bad Bunny represents none of these values; his drag performances and style are the opposite of what families expect on football's biggest stage."
Perhaps the "Moscow Mule" singer heard about this petition because a new report claims he plans to wear a dress during his performance.
Why Is Bad Bunny Wearing a Dress During His Super Bowl Performance?
This news comes from Radar Online. According to its report, a stylist involved with the performance said Bad Bunny "is 100 percent going to wear a dress." The reason is to "honor Puerto Rican queer icons and generations of drag, resistance, and cultural rebellion."
"He loves controversy," they said. "He lives to push envelopes."
Another source added that the NFL is unaware of the artist's plans and hasn't approved them yet.
"He's not playing it safe. The NFL has no idea what's coming. Zero," they shared. "Let them complain. The dress is already being sewn."
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has already backed Bad Bunny, saying the decision to add him was "carefully thought through."
"I'm not sure we've ever selected an artist where we didn't have some blowback or criticism," he added.
Bad Bunny isn't the only controversial performer at the Super Bowl this year. Green Day has been selected to open Super Bowl LX at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Feb. 8. For reference, the famed punk band has been openly vocal about the current US government.
