Over 1,500 People Want This Country Icon To Replace Bad Bunny at Super Bowl Halftime Show

After pop star Bad Bunny was announced as the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show performer, someone began thinking of a potential replacement.

When pop star Bad Bunny was announced as the headliner for the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show last month, it caused a bit of a stir. It didn't take long for some to come up with alternatives.

Who Else Could Perform at the Super Bowl?

We reported last week that Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has some ideas of his own.

"It sounds like he's not someone who appeals to a broader audience," he shared. "And there are so many eyes on the Super Bowl, for a lot of young and impressionable children. In my view, you would have Lee Greenwood or role models doing that. Not somebody like this."

The "God Bless the U.S.A." singer couldn't agree more. Additionally, the non-profit Turning Point recently announced "The All-American Halftime Show," which will run as an alternative to the official broadcast. Performers are expected to be announced at a later date.

It is important to clarify that Bad Bunny is a United States citizen by birth, as Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the U.S. and people born there are American citizens.

Are There Any Other Ideas?

Someone named Kar Shell started a petition on Change.org. The aim is to convince the NFL to have someone else take the stage at the big game. Their recommendation? None other than 2025 Kennedy Center honoree George Strait.

"The Super Bowl halftime show should unite our country, honor American culture, and remain family-friendly, not be turned into a political stunt," the petition reads.

"George Strait, known as the 'King of Country,' embodies the heart and soul of American music," it continues. "With over 60 No. 1 hits and more than 40 years in the music industry, George Strait is not only a legend in the country music genre but a staple in American musical history. His ability to transcend generations with his timeless songs resonates with a diverse demographic, welcoming both long-time fans and newcomers.

"The 2026 Super Bowl offers a unique opportunity to pay tribute to American music's rich heritage by featuring George Strait in its halftime show. His performances are known for their authenticity and raw emotion, qualities that are crucial as we aim to unite fans from coast to coast."

George Strait Fans Seem To Be on Board

There are plenty of other petitions with more signatures asking the NFL to replace Bad Bunny. However, this might be the only one to name George Strait. With over 1,500 signatures so far, some fans seem to be on board.

"George Strait is a country classic, 100x better than Bad Bunny," someone wrote.

"George Strait is the goat," adds another.

"Country music hasn't been played in the Super Bowl in a long time and why not have the best artist in country music play it's time for change," said another user.

Super Bowl LX will take place at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Feb. 8, 2026.
