Blake Shelton has shared that he doesn't really care who writes his songs. All he cares is whether they're good or not.

It turns out Blake Shelton and I have a lot more in common that I'd initially figured. We both only care about the songs themselves, not who's behind them. I mean, just look at my weekly rankings for proof on that claim.
Although Blake Shelton has written songs, he's more of a singer than a songwriter. And this means that he'll be listening to a lot of country songs to decide which are the best to cut. In a recent interview with CMT, he unveiled that his primary concern is the quality of the music, not the writer behind them.
"You know I'm going to tell the truth," he started.
"I've always said, from day one, I don't care who writes song. I don't care if it's somebody new or a veteran of the music industry," he said. "I could care less."
So strong in this stance is he that he doesn't really regard the writer at all. "I don't even look to see who they are, you know? I just look for the best songs I can find."
This has meant, however, that he's giving lesser-known musicians and songwriters an opportunity.
Blake Shelton Gives Credit To The Unknown Writers Who Haven't Had Their Shot Yet
Caring about the song over the writer has allowed Blake Shelton to give opportunities to lesser known writers.
"Because of that," he continued, "I think a lot of times it's unknown writers, that just aren't getting their shot yet."
"And they've got a lot of great material, and they just hadn't been able to get their foot in the door. And it's worked out that way a few times for me."
Ultimately, Blake Shelton is here for the country music. All he's wanted to do is sing quality country songs.
"But at the end of the day, I'm a song guy. I love great country songs, and that's all I want to record."
