No matter what your job is, being a working parent is hard. After you spend all day hustling for someone else, you need to come home and put on your second career hat as a mother. The Challenges Of Being A Working Mom
Carrie Underwood is one of the most successful country singers out there. In an interview with Today with Jenna & Friends, the hosts of the show highlighted some of her major achievements. Such as the fact that she has been performing for over two decades. Also, she has sold "more than 85 million records worldwide." Not to mention, the "28 number-one singles that she has released."
However despite all of her fame and talent, she remains one of the most down-to-earth celebrities out there. In previous interviews she admitted that juggling mom-life and superstar-life can be a challenge. There were times where she took her sons on tour with her. Or there were times where her family and her village had to step in. However she relishes all of the moments, from the adrenaline ones on stage, to the calm farm moments at home. Now, she is sharing what she is doing in those moments when she doesn't have to be Carrie Underwood, the super star.
Enjoying The Best Of Both Worlds
While being a singer has its many perks, Underwood seems to enjoy her job as mom, just as much. In the beginning of the interview, one of the hosts greeted the star by saying, "I know you're a singer and that's why you are here, but we kinda like talking about you as sort of a mom."
From there, Underwood was asked to describe what a regular day in her life would look like. "A non-working day" when her kids are off at school. Underwood shares that her husband usually drives them to school. Then, "the second they leave" she thinks okay, "I've got to vacuum." How many mothers can relate to that? While our kiddos leave lots of love behind, they also leave a lot of mess.
From there she moves on to tidying the boys' rooms and making their beds. Then the star cleans her own room, checks the house, and gets a workout in. From there, she moves out into the garden. "I'm always cooking something, or canning something. I kind of live in the kitchen." It is nice to see how much of a "normal" life this celebrity lives, it makes her more relatable.
Moments That Make Us Love Carrie Underwood Even More
Next the singer shares another one of the challenges of being a working mom...never enough alone time. The singer shares, "Before you know it, they come home. And then we make dinner." The star discusses how they have "so many meals together as a family." When asked if that was a "rule" that she had created for her family she had the most wonderful response. "It's not a rule, it is just what we do."
"I love it. I like to cook, I like to grow our food," Underwood shares. Then she continues, "That is what I enjoy doing, and I want them [meaning her sons] to remember that."
When asked if her children understand that their mother is a superstar, Carrie Underwood shared a hilarious truth. While her sons have seen her on stage, they thought that was a normal job for all mommy's of the world. Her oldest didn't realize his mom was special until his friends began saying things to him once he got older.
When his friends would appear amazed at his mother's career he would think to himself, "Oh that's different?" They would come home and tell Underwood that his friends saw her on television and she would have to explain.
So, while her lifestyle may be a bit more lavish and she may have a bit more wiggle room financially, Carrie Underwood faces some of the same challenges of being a working mom. She needs to find the work-life balance. Then she needs to make sure she makes time for herself so she can be the best version of herself for her kiddos. Also, she needs to answer the tough questions that come with childhood, all while keeping everyone fed, happy and healthy.
