Catch Your First Look at Lainey Wilson in the New Colleen Hoover Adaptation

She's not wearing her signature bellbottoms or a cowboy hat, so she's hard to spot, but that is Lainey Wilson in the Reminders of Him trailer.

In the clip, she asks actress Maika Monroe, "What's your trauma?" Her reply sums up the plot of this adaptation of Colleen Hoover's bestselling novel.

What Is 'Reminders of Him' About?

The drama centers on Kenna, played by Monroe, who returns home after serving several years in prison for the death of her boyfriend. She tries to find a job and reconnect with her young daughter, but her past creates challenges to reaching her goals.

Kenna struggles to rebuild her life and reconnect with her daughter after her tragic mistake. But will she learn to love again and possibly forgive herself? You'll have to watch the movie to find out.

Who Does Lainey Wilson Play?

The "Somewhere Over Laredo" singer will play Amy, who is a friend and coworker of Kenna. Think of her as the supportive friend who helps the protagonist fulfill her destiny.

Joining Monroe and Wilson are Tyriq Withers, Rudy Pankow, Lauren Graham, Bradley Whitford, and Nicholas Duvernay.

Vanessa Caswill directs Reminders of Him. She also directed Netflix's adaptation of Jennifer E. Smith's Love at First Sight, so she's in familiar territory here. Hoover co-wrote the script with Lauren Levine.

When Does the Movie Come Out?

Reminders of Him is scheduled to come out on March 13, 2026. Yes, Friday the 13th. But judging from this emotional trailer, we have a feeling that this will be far from an unlucky day for Wilson and the movie.

For one, this isn't the singer's first rodeo. She made her acting debut on Yellowstone. She played Abby, a musician balancing life on the road while searching for love. Taylor Sheridan said he wrote the role for Wilson, so we know she's got the chops.

And that's not all for Wilson this year. She's also set to become the first woman to host the CMA Awards since Reba McEntire did it in 1991.

She's busy planning her wedding to Devlin "Duck" Hodges, but we'll have to wait and see if she'll wear her bellbottoms to the ceremony.
