Country music is always making room for new faces and voices entering the genre. One of them is Clayton Mullen. At just 24 years old, he is becoming a force on the country scene already. His latest single, "Blue," dropped on June 27 ahead of a new EP later this summer. When you hear it, I think you will agree that Mullen has the tone, the poise, and the vocal chops of a seasoned country pro.

He is definitely - and rightfully - excited about this track. It has a snappy pedigree. Mullen wrote it with Jason Massey (Dylan Marlowe, Nate Smith, Kelsea Ballerini) and Kyle Sturrock (Dierks Bentley, Blake Shelton).
Per a press release, Mullen noted, "'Blue' has become one of my favorite songs from this new project. A common theme throughout the EP is young love and with that comes heartbreak, too. We wanted to write a song that could help people escape that feeling, rather than be drowned by it. I think we accomplished that with 'Blue.'"

His story is fascinating. Per the release, Mullen hails from California but his soul is pure Nashville. His interest in music, especially country, was piqued when he was a student at Texas Christian University. What happened next evolved from jotting tunes in a hectic TCU fraternity house to leaping straight into the music world with both feet. "Sharing the stage with artists like Chris Lane, Corey Kent, Randall King and Josh Abbott Band, he was able to jump-start his music career before even graduating college."
Once Mullen got his diploma, he moved to Music City to be closer to all the big-time action. His career has had a steadily upward trajectory. Mullen dropped an album featuring 11 tracks, Where the Time Goes, in April of 2023. His subsequent project, the 13-track album, Start at the End, "has amassed over 25 million streams to date."
Mullen has been shoulder-to-shoulder with some impressive artists. He has provided "direct support for Warren Zeiders, Vincent Mason, and Logan Crosby on tour." Mullen also teamed up with Sam Hunt and Billy Currington on some of their recent dates as well.
This is clearly a young man to watch!
