Country Singer Got Paid by Kid Rock Even Though Illness Kept Him From Performing

Some stars have a brash, nonchalant persona that belies how generous and compassionate they really are. It seems like Kid Rock (his actual name is Bob Ritchie) is among them. He did something amazingly kind for Colt Ford that even Ford could not wrap his head around.

Per Whiskey Riff, Ford had a heart attack in Arizona. He was then whisked off to Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa for treatment. In critical condition, he was put into intensive care.

Colt Ford Talked About His Major Medical Scare

Per the outlet via The Big D & Bubba Show, Ford openly described the seriousness of his medical situation. Ford, 54, said, "It's just been a traumatic, crazy experience, guys. I don't even remember coming out here to do a show in Phoenix. I died three times. Luckily, my band came out to check on me...they came out to check on me, and then all of a sudden they were like, 'Oh God,' and then that is when all hell broke loose."

He added, "This Mayo Clinic out here in Phoenix, if it was going to happen, God could not have had me in a better place. The big doc out here said, 'I wouldn't give me 1%, but I give you 0.1% that you'd survive.' They brought me back. They saved my life. The Lord had more for me to do."

He Had to Scrap All His 2024 Concert Dates

Fortunately, Ford recovered. But his life was upended while he was getting back on his feet. He could not go on tour. That meant a very significant loss of income.

Among the shows Ford canceled were several on the Rock the Country tour. The event is Kid Rock's brainchild. He, along with Jason Aldean and Kid Rock himself, were going to be among the headliners.

Kid Rock Did Something So Generous

When he was a guest on the Outside the Round with Matt Burrill podcast, Ford described what Kid Rock did for him. Ford said, "He Facetimed me, he's like, 'Man, pulling for you, praying for you.' He goes, 'They called me, and asked me, we had a little meeting and said ok, who are we going to get to replace Colt Ford?'"

The singer continued, "He said, 'I looked at 'em and said well, give me your options. I ran 'em down and I said I don't know what you're gonna do, because you don't have anybody that can replace Colt Ford on that list.'"

So rather than get someone to replace Ford, Kid Rock performed some of Ford's songs himself. That was not all, however. Ford said, "Bob paid me anyway. That's the kind of stuff that sometimes needs to get out there. He was like, 'I got you.' Because he knew that was a big deal for me, and it was."
