Disney Reveals Closing Date for the ‘Rock ’n Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith’

Disney is closing their Aerosmith-themed rollercoaster attraction to make room for something a little different. Here's what we know so far.

On Friday, Disney announced that it's going to revamp one of its beloved attractions, which has been running for over 20 years. Inside Hollywood Studios, guests can explore various worlds, including Toy Story Land, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, and Hollywood Boulevard. In the Sunset Boulevard area of the park, Disney will change the theme of one of its iconic rides. The Rock' n' Roll Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith will be no more, according to Disney.

The Aerosmith version, which opened in 1999, is a vibrant attraction that takes rock-and-roll fans on a fast ride. Along the way, they are accompanied by Aerosmith hits like "Sweet Emotion", "Walk This Way", and "Dude(Looks Like A Lady)".

Fans are taken to "G-Force Records Studio", where Aerosmith members Steven Tyler and Joe Perry are working on a record. In the attraction's narrative, the band invites everyone on the ride to join them for a show with backstage passes. From there, fans are launched onto a "limo ride" that accelerates to 57 mph.

Although this attraction will be closing in March, it introduced several exciting "firsts" when it opened. Primarily, this roller coaster was the first in the park to launch riders from 0 to 57 mph in 2.8 seconds. That's more than the G-force astronauts experience during a space shuttle launch. It was also the park's first inverting coaster, featuring three separate inversions, which was unique at the time.

New Muppet Theme To Replace Aerosmith in 2026

Now, this attraction is going to be renovated into something slightly different to align with Disney's new direction. Disney first teased a Muppets takeover on their Disney Parks Blog in January. Fans will still be taken to "G-Force Records Studio", but this time, they will be greeted by The Muppets. Passengers will be taken on a ride to find Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, the missing headlining act.

This new version of the Aerosmith ride fulfills Disney's promise to give the Muppets a new home at Disney in November 2024. This was when Disney announced that a Monsters, Inc. Land would replace Muppets Courtyard, which had been open since 2016.

The last day to ride Aerosmith's version of the ride will be March 1, 2026. The Muppet version will likely be completed in Summer 2026.
