The Foo Fighters have let go of their drummer, Josh Freese. The drummer himself announced this through an Instagram post. Apparently, the band didn't tell him why they fired him. Although he's been a great sport about being removed from the band, he is shocked and disappointed.

Freese has been with the Foo Fighters since Taylor Hawkins was found dead in 2023. He's had a great run with band, but apparently his time has come to an end. The band itself hasn't commented on his departure.

Sharing with his friends, family, and fans, Freese wrote, "The Foo Fighters called me Monday night to to let me know they've decided 'to go in a different direction with their drummer.'" Whatever that means.

"No reason was given. :("

Despite his upset, he ultimately thinks positively of the band. "Regardless, I enjoyed the past two years with them, both on and off stage, and I support whatever they feel is best for the band."

"In my 40 years of drumming professionally, I've never been let go from a band, so while I'm not angry - just a bit shocked and disappointed," he added.

Ultimately, Freese is hopeful for the future. "But as most of you know I've always worked freelance and bounced between bands so, I'm fine"

To conclude the announcement, he poked fun at journalists like me, "Stay tuned for my 'Top 10 possible reasons Josh got booted from the Foo Fighters' list." Time to make a pitch to my editor...

Fans React To Shocking Dismissal of Josh Freese From The Foo Fighters

Fans and those in the industry are shocked to find that Josh Freese got kicked from the band so suddenly and without reason.

They took to the comments to share their disbelief.

"D--n...I'm shocked! You seemed to be the perfect fit!!" exclaimed Dave Portnoy, the drummer of Dream Theater.

"Still the [G.O.A.T]," supported Collin Brittain, the drummer for Linkin Park.

"Look man, you can't have the new drummer be by far the best musician in the band. It just doesn't look right," joked Joe Sumner.

"So sorry Josh. Their loss!" wrote one more.

I wonder what's in store next to the revered drummer.
