A video of a fan interaction with the child star went viral. Chase was wearing dirty clothes that hung off his frame. Fans, co-stars, and actor Shaun Weiss, known as Goldberg in The Mighty Ducks movie franchise, expressed their concern for the actor.
Following this wave of concern, it looks like Chase is starting to get the help he needs. We have the details below.
What Happened to the Nickelodeon Star?
Chase's co-stars, Daniel Curtis Lee, Devon Werkheiser, and Lindsey Shaw, shared their concerns about their friend on their podcast in September.
"When I first saw it, I was angry, because I was like, why put a camera on someone's face in hard times?" said Lee. "But then I was upset with myself because I feel powerless, because there's not much that I felt I could do. I didn't want to believe it at first. I was like, 'Oh, they just caught him at a bad time.'"
TMZ reported that after the video surfaced, Lee got Chase a motel room. Management later called Lee to report that Chase trashed the room. According to the star's family members, other attempts to help Chase around this period also went amiss.
Werkheiser told TMZ, "Anyone who has dealt with severe addiction and deep mental health issues knows it's an unbelievably challenging situation if they don't want help. My only hope is that from this exposure, someone with real understanding and resources can step in, get Tylor into treatment, and help him get back on track."
Chase Is Finally Getting Some Help
Recently, the owner of a Riverside, California, barbershop said that after spending three hours with Chase on Christmas Day. He found a crisis center that would evaluate the child star. Following the evaluation, it was determined that Chase needed to be taken to a local hospital for "medical attention."
Chase is now on a 72-hour hold before being taken to a rehab facility. It's unclear which one he will enter. However, Weiss has been working to help Chase after going through a similar experience. He invited Chase to stay at Eleven 11 Recovery in San Clemente, California.
