Hannah Dasher Slams Beyoncé For Her 'Cowboy Carter' Album, Says It 'Wasn't A Country Record'

Add Hannah Dasher to the list of country music artists who are not a fan of Beyoncé releasing her country Cowboy Carter album. Dasher says she hoped to like the record, but finds it actually isn't very country.

"I think she's a queen," Dasher tells Whiskey Riff. "I think she's incredibly gifted. Obviously, [Cowboy Carter] wasn't a country record. If she really wanted to fool us into believing that she wanted to pay homage to our genre, then she would have done something like Ray Charles did in 1963 with Modern Sounds in Country Music."

Dasher doubles down on her claim, adding what Beyoncé needed to do to truly make Cowboy Carter a country project.

"I would have loved to see her record an old Tammy Wynette song to really do it justice," the country singer says. "And to include more songwriters, not just black artists and black songwriters. ... I think there were a couple of us pale-skins on there."

Dasher says Beyoncé could have made a country album. She just chose not to.

"I wish she would have paid homage and actually put out a country record, because I would have bought that," Dasher ays. "I would have bought 10 copies of that. It would have done even better. She just took advantage of an algorithm. That's not art. That's just a quick grab to make some money, and I don't think that deserves any kind of award."

Gavin Adcock Also Criticizes Beyoncé For Her 'Cowboy Carter' Record

Like Dasher, Gavin Adcock has also been openly critical of Beyoncé. Adcock's criticism is not against Beyoncé as an artist, as much as it is about her labeling her album country.

"When I was a little kid, my mama was blasting some Beyoncé in the car," Adcock shares. "I've heard a ton of Beyoncé songs and I actually remember her Super Bowl Halftime Show being pretty kick-a-- back in the day, but I really don't believe her album should be labeled as country music.

"It doesn't sound country, it doesn't feel country," he adds. "And I just don't think that people that have dedicated their whole lives to this genre and this lifestyle should have to compete or watch that album just stay at the top just because she's Beyoncé."

Adcock's comments came after he stopped his concert to criticize the former Destiny's Child singer.
