The Goo Goo Dolls were scheduled to perform at the Hayden Home Amphitheatre in Bend, Oregon. It was going to be the latest stop in their American Summer Anthem Tour. The "Iris" hitmakers kicked off their tour in July, although their Summer Anthem EP released on August 22.

Those in Oregon who had wanted to see their latest EP performed live would be bitterly disappointed, however, as on top of dealing with a wildfire, they also have missed out on their chance to watch the Goo Goo Dolls perform.

The rock band took to Instagram to share that their Bend performance had been cancelled, only 30 minutes before the doors opened. The band said that the smoke from the wildfire had caused health concerns.

"Due to health concerns based on the air quality produced by the current wildfires, the Goo Goo Dolls show at Hayden Home Amphitheater scheduled for this evening in Bend, OR has been cancelled," they wrote.

The band was sure to make known that all tickets would be refunded. Any tickets purchased through Ticketmaster were refunded automatically. Hopeful concertgoers who bought tickets elsewhere would need to contact the point of purchase.

Fans Understand The Health Concerns

The comment section under the cancellation is full of those who understand the severity of the wildfire smoke. People took to the comments to wish the band well.

"Thank you for putting safety first!" exclaimed one.

"So glad you're protecting your health, and the audience's health. Wildfire smoke is no joke," another wrote.

"Very sad about the wildfires . May everyone stay safe," a third added.

"This is a risk whenever you buy concert tickets & breathing this smoke is no joke!! Be resilient people & pivot there are so many options in Bend!!!" commented one more.

Of course, some were very frustrated at the sudden change of plans. Especially after driving hours to watch them perform.

Unfortunately, due to John Rzeznik having suffered from pneumonia in December last year, the risk of the wildfire smoke was certainly not worth performing for the band.
