Morgan Wallen's high school is paying tribute to the singer in a big, big way. Wallen attended Gibbs High School in Corryton, Tennessee, before going on to become one of country music's biggest superstars. Now, the high school announces it is renaming its baseball field the Morgan Wallen Field, in honor of Wallen's numerous contributions to the school and community.

Among Wallen's gifts are more than $35,000 for the high school's band program, core program and baseball program. He also released one of his albums at the school, showing his devotion to his alma mater.
"Morgan played baseball at Gibbs during his time," the school's principal, Jason Webster, tells WATE. He's part of the 2010 state championship team and if you go to his concerts, you hear him speak fondly of his time with Gibbs Baseball coach Davis. He speaks very fondly of his time with coach and you see him wearing a Gibbs Eagles baseball jersey a lot of times."
"He's been positive promoter of Gibbs and has given back throughout his time after high school," he continues. "We're thankful for the things that he does, not just for Gibbs high school, but Knox County schools and the community at large. He's a very giving person and we're excited to do this for him."
Morgan Wallen's Baseball Aspirations
It's fitting that a baseball field is named after Wallen. The "I'm the Problem" singer originally wanted to be a professional baseball player until an elbow injury derailed those plans. Fortunately, Wallen found another outlet, which became the unlikely beginnings of his successful career.
"It was hard," Wallen admits to Nashville Lifestyles. "I was devastated because I'd put so much time and effort into baseball. So, I started writing songs and playing guitar. It was a way to help me get my feelings out, keep my mind occupied and to say the things that I wanted to say. By the time I was about 19 is when I really started growing the love for music that could be my music."
Wallen's career continues to reach new heights. He recently broke a record, previously held by Garth Brooks, with 174 weeks atop Billboard's Top Country Albums chart.
