Yeah, we do things differently here in America. Everywhere else can drink their flavorless dregs because we've got the tastiest brews. And I don't just say that, we've got the facts to back it up, too, now. I mean, when you take home a bajillion medals in this year's World Beer Cup, I believe that crowns you champion. And it wasn't like we were beating out tiny countries with one brewery. There were 49 nations in this thing. I know! I just wish the whole competition were more interesting to watch. Maybe if I were rich and could taste all the beers alongside the judges

America Has The Golden Beer
Well, a lot of countries make a golden ale, but you get what I mean. America took home the most medals. Point blank period. Facts don't care about your feelings.
And don't worry, before you all come crying to me about fairness, this competition was about as fair as it gets.
The panel of judges was from all different countries, and they rated beers across 112 different categories. That is wild, by the way. 112 different criteria that each beer was ranked with? Can you imagine how long it took each round to go? There were over 8,000 entries. That must've taken so many days. No wonder they nicknamed it the 'Beer Olympics'.
Considering that the competition started in May, I'm surprised it didn't take the whole summer.
West Coast Domination
Unsurprisingly, California absolutely crushed this competition. And when I say they crushed it, I mean they obliterated it. That state alone won 76 medals in this year's competition. Oregon won 35 and Washington won 24, rounding out the top three, and coincidentally, the West Coast.
And of course, we stay in the west but just move a little south to round out the top five states. Colorado won 21, and Texas won 13.
While I can't say I'm surprised about how the states finished, it still is pretty impressive how dominant the West is in the beer game. Apparently though, I'm alone in that sentiment because competition director Chris Williams told Fox Digital News, "The density of craft breweries out there alone is enough of a catalyst to ensure that there's no shortage of great beer coming out of the West Coast and Pacific Northwest."
And it turns out that Oregon is multitalented. They crushed it in the cider competition. Specifically, 2 Towns Ciderhouse in Corvallis, Oregon, crushed the cider competition. They medaled in four out of the five possible categories for Ciders. Yeah, welcome back, Michael Phelps.
Well, America does it again. We stay the best in worldwide comps.
