4 Songs That Make You A Country Fan
Now I know this list may garner some criticism. As I said, the list of great country songs is endless. However, I created this list for a reason. First, I wanted to show some love to my female country artists out there. Sometimes I think men steal the spotlight a bit in this genre so I wanted to take this chance to let the ladies shine. Additionally, I think these songs are so popular that even those who are not country fans would recognize them. Thus meaning, if a non-serious country fan would know them, you should too. Finally, they are all personal favorites of mine and I think they deserve the credit. So without further ado here are 4 songs that you need to know if you are a true country fan.
1. "Jolene" By Dolly Parton
This is easily one of Dolly Parton's most famous songs and it drew in fans across genres. American Songwriter shares that this incredible song went on to be Parton's second No. 1 single. Every country fan knows this incredible song.
2. "Man I Feel Like A Woman" By Shania Twain
Shania is no stranger to No. 1 on the Billboard list either, this song has continued to gain popularity over the years. It has even broken records for being one of the most popular karaoke songs. One fan captured the feeling of this song perfectly. They said, "Let's go girls my heart drops every single time." That is why this is one of the 4 songs that every country fan should know.
3. "Before He Cheats" By Carrie Underwood
I remember being 15 when this song came out and thinking it was the greatest thing ever. Now, 15 years later I still feel the same way. This is one of Carrie Underwood's most iconic songs. Not only did it win the Video Of The Year Award in 2007 but it was also the 6th best selling song of that year. Furthermore, the song's writers won the Grammy Award for Best Country Song. How could we not include the best country song on the list of songs you need to know in order to be a true country fan?
4. "Fancy" By Reba McEntire
You know the Queen of Country herself had to be on the list of 4 country songs every country fan should know. What better song to throw on there than 'Fancy'? Whiskey Riff shared how this was a passion project for Reba and how it almost never happened. Luckily for all of our ears, it did. She finally recorded her version of the Bobbie Gentry song and was amazed when it surpassed the original in popularity, scoring higher on the country charts. Soon after, it joined the ranks as one of country music's greatest hits.
