"I started at 540 lbs.," Jelly Roll reveals to Pat McAfee. "I'm 357 pounds." Jelly Roll goes on to reveal a massive new goal he has once he loses even more weight.
"I'm gonna lose another 100 pounds, and go skydiving with my wife in Sweden," he hints.
Jelly Roll was inspired to lose weight by trying to perform a simple task at home.
"A little bit over a year ago, I literally struggled to walk down my hill to the mailbox," he reveals. "It was really bad."
"I had let myself get to a point of just being really absolutely disgusted with myself," he adds. "I'd spent three or four years 'pretending' to try and work on my weight, and on my health, but I never actually really dug my heels in the ground and did the work."
Jelly Roll is also inspiring others to lose weight. The 40-year-old started his own Losers Run Club, encouraging others to run a 5K, either with him in May, or on their own.
Jelly Roll on 'American Idol'
Jelly Roll is letting fans see his slimmed-down physique in real time. The Nashville native is appearing on this season of American Idol, as the first-ever Artist in Residence.
"Halfway through the season, like Episode 5, I come in, and I mentor these kids through the end of the season," Jelly Roll says on Country Countdown USA. "You wanna see me be a snotbox, tune in to Idol. I'll be crying all over national television all year."
Jelly Roll will also perform on an upcoming episode of Idol. The "Liar" singer will join judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie in performing for the Songs of Faith Easter episode. Brandon Lake will perform as well, likely his "Hard Fought Hallelujah" collaboration with Jelly Roll. They will be joined by CeCe Winans, Roman Collins and The Brown Four, along with the remaining 20 contestants on American Idol.
The three-hour Songs of Faith episode of American Idol will air on April 20, at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
