Today, the episode of Fire Country featuring Jelly Roll will air. And he's shed light on what the character means to him. It turns out, his character, Noah, shares a lot of similarities with the singer cast as him.

US Weekly revealed that he'd be playing Noah some weeks ago. Although he's been on TV before as a cameo, Noah is his first 'proper' acting role. And Jelly Roll's loved every second of filming.

In a video shared to Instagram, Jelly Roll spoke about the character, and how he personally relates to him.

"I'm playing a guy who's a second-chance man, who's been in and out of prison but lost his mother due to dementia. So my form of rehabilitation for myself, and to give back as a man of service, was I came to work at the local nursing home," he aptly explained.

I'm sure the connections are obvious. An ex-inmate who's hellbent on providing for the world. Sound familiar?

Jelly Roll Found Himself In His Character

"I really found myself in this guy," he said. I do think it's sweet that both the character and his son, Noah, share the same name. I'm sure that helped a little.

The singer then shared about his last conviction. "When I came home from my last time being incarcerated, I was so determined to change who I was as a human."

"If music didn't work, I have a feeling I wouldn't have been far-fetched from being Noah. Working somewhere at some place just trying to help people," he said. And I'm sure that's true.

I'm sure this personal connection will allow for a more authentic performance. Although I believe the role could have gone to an actor who needs the money a little more than Jelly Roll, the role is practically him in another body. I'm sure he'll do a great job.

When addressing Max Thieriot, director and writer of Fire County, he said "Thank you for building an entire show around second-chance humans."

"I mean I think it's the heart beat of America, and I think that's why this show has been such a success. Man, I'm just honored to bring my style of storytelling to it."
