“I’m in My Head, I’m Not Having Fun—I Want To Go Home”: Jelly Roll Says He’s Doing “Worst Mentally” Than He Has in a Long Time

Jelly Roll has spent the last month on tour in Australia and New Zealand, but admitted he's struggled with feeling isolated

On paper, Jelly Roll's tour of Australia and New Zealand has been a resounding success. He's performed at festivals and in front of sold-out crowds. And, if his Instagram and TikTok profiles are anything to go by, he's been making some lifelong memories along the way. However, social media only provides us a snapshot into someone's highlight reel moments.

During a recent appearance on the "No Filter" podcast, Jelly Roll detailed the mental toll his tour has taken.

"I don't like spending a lot of time in my hotel room by myself," Jelly Roll said. "I'm in my head, i'm not having fun — I want to go home... I'm doing the worst mentally I've done in a long time."

Jeyll Roll's tour began in late October. Therefore, he has been traveling and performing for a month solid, likely with significant travel in between shows. It's no wonder he's begun to feel isolated. And when you factor in the mental grind of performing in front of live crowds, it's understandable why he's feeling somewhat burnt out.

An interesting revelation that emerged from his podcast appearance is that Australia doesn't have tour buses. As such, he was confined to even more time alone between shows. He wasn't on the road with the other members of his tour.

Jelly Roll Recently Had a Bad Experience at Louis Vuitton

On Wednesday, Nov. 5, Jelly Roll shared an Instagram Story noting how he'd been profiled while visiting a  Louis Vuitton store while on tour.

"Hey man, the Louis Vuitton in Sydney legitimately just treated us like we were finna come in and rob that place," Jelly Roll said. "I have never been looked at more like a crim...Listen, the last time I was looked at like a criminal this bad — I was an actual criminal this bad."

Jelly Roll appeared to see the humorous side of the incident. However, it likely contributed to his current feelings of isolation. After all, that could have been one of the rare occurrences where he was with other people.

Since hitting the global stage, Jelly Roll has been open about his struggles with mental health. Now that his tour is over, his fans will be hoping he can navigate through this difficult period and afford himself the time and rest he needs to get his mental health back on track.
