The internet has a new punching bag, and it's Katy Perry. Since her space launch, people have been going in on her, not only about her flamboyant waste of money on Jeff Bezos toy rocket, but also about her current tour. Finally, Katy Perry has spoken out about all the hate she's been the subject of.

The origins of the online attacks on Katy Perry began with her Blue Origin flight. She paraded herself in front of a camera, pretending that it was some kind of huge human leap. In actual fact, she was just flaunting her millions on a trip 99% of us will never take. To top it all off, she just stared vacuously into the camera the whole journey. The majesty of the world was before her, and she made it all about herself.
It wasn't a massively heinous act, especially compared to some things people are doing in the public eye at the moment (I'm talking about you, Kanye). But, it was enough for people to see just how detached and narcissistic Katy Perry is, and garner some hate for it. Honestly, it's closer to mockery than anything.
Recently, as crowds cheered her performance of her Lifetimes Tour show in Chicago, she responded to the praise. She couldn't have been more on brand. "Well, I thought I was the most hated person on the internet," she began. Yet again, narcissism got the best of Katy Perry. She's not 'the most' anything anywhere. Her ego is even massive when she's the subject of disdain.
As her loyal fans' cheers washed over, she basked, continuing, "I think that's false." I'm glad she's come to terms with that. She's not the most hated person on the internet, she's just considered one of the greatest fools.
Katy Perry Rises Above, In Both A Planetary And Social Way
Speaking out at the end of April, Katy Perry addressed the online hate she had received. She had been given some advice on how to deal with it all. Speaking about the words of wisdom, she shared "'No one can make you believe something about yourself that you don't already believe about yourself' and if I ever do have any feelings about it, then it's an opportunity to investigate the feeling underneath it."
It's a fair piece of advice for the most part. Self reflection is important, but so is listening to criticism to an extent. Hopefully, she takes something from this experience. If people were tearing her appearance apart, it wouldn't be even slightly acceptable. But, I think Katy Perry has just been reminded that she needs to try to be a little more humble in future. There's little chance of that, though.
