Kelly Clarkson gave us all an important reminder about body shaming this weekend. The singer shared a funny story about how she was told to get plastic surgery in her early career years. Her takeaway, well, I couldn't have said it better myself. "Do you — but don't make me do you," the singer, 43, told the audience at her Vegas residency.

In the middle of her "Studio Sessions" residency show, Clarkson stopped for a second to fix her dress. The moment brought back a memory for her, and she chose to share it with the crowd.

"I'm just gonna say it. I had some d--k manager one time tell me to get a boob job." Clarkson filled fans in on her response, saying, "I was like, 'Why don't you get a d--k job? I'm fine with my itty-bitty titties! Get out of here!'"

She continued, "People say that s-- tall the time in this industry. They say the craziest stuff. And I'm like, 'This is not normal! You've normalized crazy!'" She wrapped it up with a taste of that fresh truth we all know and love her for. "Calm down — just get old. Be glad! Not everybody gets to get old."

Kelly Clarkson: "I've Just Never Cared What People Think"

It's been 23 years since Clarkson broke into the industry at just 20 after winning American Idol. From time to time, Clarkson has spoken about the initial backlash she received from the show at a young age. The industry can be a cruel place, and Clarkson admits that she experienced that early on.

"People were really cruel at first," she shared of the show, which she starred in for its first season. "They didn't like it. It took the industry kind of by storm, the talent shows. It was a very unlikable thing in the industry concerning the populous." Not only were people initially critical of the way Clarkson broke into the industry, but they were also quick to criticize her body image over the years.

In 2015, British TV personality Katie Hopkins called Clarkson a "chunky monkey," referencing the weight gain she'd experienced as a result of being pregnant with her daughter, River Rose. Clarkson's response, as usual, was perfectly said.

"I think what hurts my feelings for people is when I'll have a meet-and-greet after the show and a girl who's, like, bigger than me will be in the meet-and-greet and be like, 'Oh, God!' And they'll say, 'If they think you're big, I must be so fat to them,'" she shared with Taste of Country. "It's like, you just are who you are. We are who we are — whatever size. It doesn't mean that we're gonna be that forever."

She continued, in classic Kelly Clarkson fashion. "I've just never cared what people think. It's more if I'm happy and I'm confident and feeling good, that's always been my thing. And more so now, since having a family —  I don't seek out any other acceptance."
