Kelly Clarkson's Show Absence Reportedly Due To Sick Ex-Husband
This raised various suspicions, like Clarkson wanting to quit and going through personal issues. Now, NewsNation reports that her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, got sick. "Her ex-husband is sick and she took the kids to see him," said the source.
Clarkson and Blackstock divorced in 2022 after a long custody and spousal support battle that began in 2020. Blackstock was a music manager who previously managed even Clarkson herself. His father, Narvel Blackstock, founded the company he worked for, called Starstruck Entertainment.
He eventually stopped working there, and the exes are now co-parenting. They share a 10-year-old Daughter, River Rose, and a 9-year-old son, Remington Alexander. Despite the strenuous divorce battle that then became a business battle, the source said, "He is still the children's father."
All of the rumors put together make sense as to why Clarkson has disappeared from hosting her show. A source revealed in march that the American Idol alum was absent due to a "sudden family emergency." If Blackstock is actually sick, this would make sense.
This would also put a strain on her ability to be with her children. During this time, they inevitably want to be by their father's side. Clarkson running and hosting a talk show while this is going on must be difficult, which supports the rumors of her wanting to quit.
"Kelly's number one priority is her children, and they always will be," said an insider to Page Six. "The show is grueling. It's a whole lot of work, and I hear that Kelly would like to spend more time down South."
Although the show is named after her, many celebrities have been stand-in hosts in her absence. Stars like Simu Liu, Andy Cohen, and Kal Penn have hosted during her disappearances. Her show could easily transform into a different kind of show where different celebrities host each episode. But would that ruin the one-on-one chats that Clarkson typically has with each guest?
We'll have to wait and see what the truth is. At some point, Clarkson may have to speak up against or for these rumors.
