Kelsea Ballerini Reveals Which Country Music Stars Are Her Beauty Icons

Kelesa Ballerini is looking to two country music superstars, and not just for their talent. Ballerini reveals that when she needs beauty and style inspiration, she draws inspiration from two of her musical role models.

"One of the things that country music is known for historically is the [saying], 'The higher the hair, the closer to God,'" Ballerini tells People. "When I think of that, I think of Dolly Parton. We're both from East Tennessee, so growing up, she was and still is, to me, the North Star of women in country music. That woman is just, she's an icon in every way. I certainly think that she was one of the first women in country music to really allow her aesthetic to be a part of her brand and she's so beautiful. Her heart is just so golden."

Of a different era, Ballerini also admires one of country music's most daring artists, at least in the late '90s.

"Also, there's Shania Twain with her big curly hair and wigs," Ballerini says. "So, it's really fun to grow up with women that express themselves through their hair, through their fashion, through all of it."

The Friend Closest To Kelsea Ballerini In Country Music

Kelsea Ballerini recently revealed she and Maren Morris are writing songs together. The two are close, but Ballerini's closest friend is undoubtedly Carly Pearce.

"Carly Pearce and I probably talk the most often, and we run the full spectrum," the "Baggage" singer reveals. "We'll talk about life, we'll talk about love, we'll talk about what's happening on tour. And, honestly, when girls get together, especially touring musicians, and talk, it's like, 'How do we sleep better? How do we look like we've slept better?"

Ballerini goes on to say that they also talk about taking care of their body, mind, skin, and hair, which goes "through the wringer," due to the demands of their job.

"'What are we doing to not look as haggard as we feel?'" she adds. "That's pretty much the baseline of our beauty conversations."

Ballerini and Pearce did recently reveal one way they both take care of their hair: by wearing a wig.
