Last Sunday night, the country singer was performing at Florida's Hard Rock Live in Hollywood. There, she performed her fan-favorite song "Penthouse." The track was released as part of her 2023 EP Rolling Up The Welcome Mat which expressed her thoughts and feelings after the public and messy split.
Naturally, her fans have taken their side against Morgan Evans, and have developed a culture of screaming obscenities toward the man whenever Ballerini would perform the piece on stage. "F--k Morgan" and other such lines are commonly yelled whenever "Penthouse" is performed.
However, it's been three years, and Kelsea Ballerini is over the breakup. So much so that she's now trying to stop her fans from insulting Morgan Evans.
A fan attending her event on Sunday recorded the moment Ballerini addressed the crowd to put an end to those crowd contributions.
Right in the middle of her performance, she stops, and says, "Guys you have to stop saying that."
"Seriously, we're three years past it, everything's fine now. I sing this song for you now, it's not about me," she continued.
"Alright, for everyone that's moving forward with their life, will you sing this with me?" she asked before belting back into the song.
Fans React To Kelsea Ballerini Putting A Stop To Morgan Evans Hate
Naturally, most fans are on board with what Kelsea Ballerini is saying. There are still some that wish for the cathartic release of screaming such things with their favorite singer, but the time has passed. They took to the comments to share their thoughts.
"I love that she called them out. THATS healing," wrote one, and I agree.
"People forget that was her husband.. for multiple years. You can still respect someone even though you got a divorce and she's doing exactly that,"commented another fan.
"I see her in April, and I swear if I don't get to scream this with her because people ruin it by saying "f u morgan"... I'm going to be UPSETTTT," yelled one.
"So classy of her to call someone out she's over it," another wrote.
Some people expressed that some fans are yelling such obscenities as they can relate, and are directing their energy toward the Morgan in their life. However, explicitly using Morgans name is disrespectful.
