He dishes about that topic in his new book, Heart Life Music, written with Holly Gleason. It comes out on November 4. Per Country Now via TalkShopLive, he said he did not consider throwing in the towel. "I wouldn't say that...I think there were moments where I didn't think that it might happen. I had hoped, but I can't say that I thought about giving up."

Chesney continued, "There were definitely some moments where I thought this might not happen early on because we were releasing some singles that nobody played. Then we had one or two that somebody played, and then we had another slick spot where...I didn't know."

Chesney Worried Long Ago That His Recording Label Might Axe Him

The singer recalled telling his mom that if his single "Me and You" did not fare well in the charts, he feared being eliminated by his label. He says today, "To think about that now is just insanity. But that was truly a moment where I wouldn't say I was going to give up, but I was having those thoughts of this might not happen the way I wanted to."

He Has Opened up About the Process of Doing His Book

Per the outlet via a press release, Chesney observed, "We [he and his co-author] were trying to create snapshots of my journey, vignettes of my soul. and lots of my friends since I started on this magic carpet ride. I moved to Nashville in January 1991, and here we are, talking about it in this book."

He hopes to inspire and encourage readers with his own moving story of success and triumph. "I think that's one of the things that has been one of the common denominators of our connection is that I've been fortunate enough to write and record some songs that reflect their own life. I think this book does that too, Like I said earlier, somebody that's in a small town that's got a dream that doesn't know what that means, they have no idea how to go about it, maybe this will give them a little courage to do that."

The country music star added, "And so if you're out there and you're lying out in your backyard staring up at the stars in the sky with a dream, I'm telling you it can happen. It's not for free. But this book is proof. I am proof that the journey is worth it."
