Every artist worth their salt has at least one song they could've written. There are records that are so good, you wish the stroke of genius struck you like lightning. Every country artist wishes they had a "Neon Moon" or an "All My Exes Live in Texas" in their catalog. For Kip Moore, he has his eye on one classic rock song that blew him away.

Recently, Kip went on Whiskey Riff's podcast in promotion of his latest album Solitary Tracks. There, they ask him about one song he wishes he could've written. Immediately, he had an answer for them, peeling back the years to the heyday of Lynyrd Skynyrd. "'Simple Man.' If there's ever a song that I just wish was mine... that I could sit down with at a songwriter's round and say, 'Here you go. Let me just play one song and I'll be getting out of here,'" Moore says.
Kip Moore Reveals The Lynyrd Skynyrd Song He Wishes He Wrote
It's a pretty great pick, all things considered, an unequivocal classic in their catalog. Kip continues by sharing how much lead singer Ronnie Van Zant still blows him away. "Ronnie Van Zant is one of my all time favorite vocalists ever. He might be my favorite vocalist ever," Moore declares. "And it's not that he's doing crazy, melodic things. You believe every word out of that man's mouth. 'Simple Man' would be that song for me. Unequivocally that would be it."
In the same vein of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kip also gives a shoutout to Eric Church with an unbelievable song he wishes he wrote. "I've got a lot that I wish I would have written. 'Lynyrd Skynyrd Jones' is one. When I heard that song, I just wept. That song made me pull the truck over on the side of the road," Moore recalls. "I remember where I was and I was just stopped in my tracks. I was like, 'Holy cow, what a way to spin this whole thing.' It just blew my mind."
